Specialises in
I was appointed Consultant Urologist at St George's Hospital, one of London's largest trauma and tertiary referral centres, in 2021, sub-specialising in robotic kidney and prostate cancer surgery. I currently lead the delivery of kidney cancer surgery and major trauma at St George's Hospital (South West London Referral Network). Having graduated from the University of Cambridge, I had completed my urological training and subsequent sub-speciality fellowship training locally within South West London.
My subspecialty expertise focuses on kidney and prostate cancer diagnostics and offering cutting-edge care through the utilisation of robotics and minimally invasive surgery in cancer and benign/reconstructive upper tract and pelvic pathology. As a high-volume robotic surgeon, I am among a select few in Europe specialising in robotic retroperitoneal (space behind the abdomen) partial nephrectomy. I introduced this innovative procedure to Southwest London, establishing it as the standard of care for kidney cancer management in the region. This approach offers patients significant benefits, including shorter hospital stays (typically just one day) and faster recovery times, enabling them to return to their daily activities more quickly.
My expertise extends to the comprehensive management of general urological disorders in both men and women. I have a particular interest in benign prostate disorders, offering day case surgical solutions such as GreenLight laser prostatectomy and rezum. Additionally, I provide robot assisted solutions for a range of benign conditions (female incontinence, ureteric obstruction/stricture and reconstructive pathology).
As a high-volume robotic surgeon, I perform over 150 robot assisted upper tract and pelvic procedures annually. I have accumulated extensive exposure and experience in robotic surgery over my career including over 400 pelvic and almost 500 upper tract robotic procedures as trainee at St George's Hospital and during my post training fellowship at Frimley Park Hospital. This expertise within the robotic sphere has resulted in me taking on taken on key training and mentorship roles at St George's.
I serve as a primary trainer in our robotic fellowship programme, mentoring consultant colleagues in robotic partial nephrectomy, robotic female and reconstruction reconstruction (colposuspension/re-implantation), and paediatric surgical colleagues in robotic urological procedures. I also mentor general surgical colleagues in robotic adrenal procedures.
I actively contribute to research, and have been published in peer-reviewed journals on topics related to prostate, kidney, bladder cancer and robotic reconstruction, and contributed to book chapters. I am committed to surgical teaching and training at both local and national levels, having served as a faculty member and speaker at various courses and conferences.
