Specialises in
I have been a Consultant Ophthalmologist for 24 years. My areas of special interest are cataract surgery and oculoplastics surgery.
I am a high volume cataract surgeon carrying out in average over 15 small incision, sutureless cataract operations (phacoemulsification) a week. I have extensive experience in application and use of premium lenses (multifocal/toric) in management of cataract patients.
I lead the Best Interest Ophthalmology Service for patients with impaired capacity and learning difficulties at the Royal Eye Unit, many of whom have complex needs and cataracts.
As well as general ophthalmology I have subspecialist fellowship training in oculoplastics surgery. These are ophthalmologists who have special training in management of eyelid disorders and plastic surgery of the eyelid. These are conditions such as malpositions (low upper eyelids, out-turning and in-turning lower eyelids), tumours, minor lumps, bumps and cysts of eyelid, surgical (treatment of hooded upper lids) and non-surgical periocular rejuvenation and lacrimal disorders (watery eyes).
My close collaboration and work with local organisations supporting the visually impaired was recognised by Royal National Institute for the Blind (RNIB) and members of the House of Lords, where I was invited to the House of Lords in 2016 for recognition of services to the visually impaired.
In my routine weekly practice I carry out many cataract and oculoplastics surgeries both in my private and NHS practice. These include eyelid corrections (ptosis repair, ectropion and entropion), excision of eyelid lesions (tumours, growths, chalazion) and surgery for watery eyes.
I was the Clinical Lead for The Royal Eye Unit between 2011 to 2022. I am the Cataract Lead at Epsomedical, Surrey.

I have also continue to carry out charity trips overseas to carry out cataract surgery.
