Specialises in
I have been a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon for eight years specialising in problems affecting the hip and knee. I perform replacements, reconstructions, and arthroscopic (keyhole) procedures of the hip and knee.
I specialise in young adult hip problems and soft tissue sparing total hip replacements which mean that my patients lose less blood, mobilise and recover quicker.
I also specialise in problems affecting the hip and knee and in particular young adult hip problems. I perform replacement, reconstruction and arthroscopic surgery on the hip and the knee. These include total hip and knee replacements for arthritis, dysplasia, avascular necrosis, failed replacements and problems caused by trauma. They also include arthroscopic (keyhole) treatment of meniscal tears, labral tears, torn ligaments, torn tendons and damaged cartilage. I have a specific interest in soft tissue sparing total hip replacements which mean less blood loss, less pain and a more rapid recovery.
To date I have performed over 8,000 orthopaedic procedures of which 1,200 were hip and knee replacements. The rest of my practice is roughly half trauma and half non joint replacement treatment of hip and knee problems.
I am Surgical Director at the South West London Orthopaedic Centre which is the largest NHS orthopaedic treatment centre in the UK and one of the largest in Europe. I am heavily involved in patient safety and developing processes and techniques that protect patients, reduced recovery times and increase patient satisfaction. I am also directorate clinical lead for quality and safety in planned care which covers a wide range of surgical and anaesthetic specialities.

I enjoy spending my spare time with my family cooking, walking, cycling swimming and sailing. I restore, maintain and drive modern classic cars (and toylanders). During my younger years I spent a lot of time working on building sites and have remained heavily involved in building and renovation projects in my free time.
