I am a Consultant General Surgeon with a specialist surgical practice in weight loss, gallbladder and hernia surgery. I have performed over 1,000 keyhole procedures and have a special interest in complex weight-loss surgery and hernia repairs. In addition I am currently the lead General Surgeon for Trauma at St George's Hospital and a senior examiner at St George's Medical School.
I have an interest in patient safety and am on the National Bariatric Surgery Registry Committee - the national body responsible for publishing and monitoring outcomes in weight loss surgery in the UK. I also act as an independent medicolegal witness, giving expert medical opinions on weight-loss surgical cases.
I am on the National Bariatric Surgery Registry Committee, responsible for publishing and monitoring national outcomes in weight loss surgery. I am the lead general surgeon for Trauma at St George’s Hospital, an Honorary Senior Lecturer at St George’s Medical School and a senior examiner for medical undergraduates. I have published over 160 articles on all aspects of surgery and my research has been featured in national and international press.

I have a keen interest in research and am currently in receipt of a Welcome grant for my research programme on weight loss surgery. I have published over 170 articles on all aspects of surgery and my research on diabetes and weight loss surgery was published in the Lancet and featured in national and international press. My research has recently been recognised by the appointment of a Professorship at the Cangzhou People Hospital, China.
