MBBS, FRCP, DGM, Euro. Board PRM
I am a Consultant Physician in Neuro-Rehabilitation and provide services in the local NHS and private hospitals in Buckinghamshire.
I started my career in medicine at The Kottayam Medical College, Kerala, India. During my residency I trained in almost all aspects of medicine and surgery, and obtained the MBBS degree from the University of Kerala.
I got to train in Rehabilitation Medicine in the United Kingdom, and trained in all parts of this branch of specialist medicine; the specialty covers head and spinal cord injury, and neurological conditions following a stroke, multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, etc.
I underwent training in the use of botulinum toxin for spasticity (a condition that can lead to abnormal postures and deformities of limbs; and presenting after a stroke, in multiple sclerosis, head and spinal cord injuries, cerebral palsy, etc.). Having completed training in neuro-rehabilitation, and orthotics and prosthetics (e.g., artificial limbs or replacement of a lost or missing part of the body due to either birth defect, accidental injury or through surgical removal), I gained accreditation in the United Kingdom.
I initially obtained the MRCP (UK) from the Royal College of Physicians and then progressed on to obtaining the FRCP (Fellow of The Royal of Physicians of the United Kingdom). I have also completed training in General Practice in the United Kingdom; and also gained a Diploma in Geriatric Medicine (DGM) from The Royal College of Physicians.
My clinical interests are as follows: Spasticity (change in muscle tone leading to abnormal postures of the body and limbs, high tone and deformities arising from neurological conditions described herein, the use of botulinum toxin where necessary in the above situations, as well as in situations where there is sialorrhea (hyper-salivation (a condition where saliva accumulates in the oral cavity leading to aspiration and subsequent chest infections), joint injections, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury and complications, multiple sclerosis complications and rehabilitation, cerebral palsy, post stroke complications and rehabilitation, prostheses and orthotics and chronic fatigue.
During my career, I have done well over 20,000 injections of botulinum toxin for the condition known as spasticity (a condition that causes deformity of limbs and body parts because of high tone) following head injury, strokes, multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, etc.
