I was appointed as a consultant in 2006 to expand the arrhythmia services, focusing on atrial fibrillation ablation at the Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals, internationally leading specialist heart/lung hospitals. Although fully trained in general cardiology my interest and passion is in the management of abnormal heart rhythms.
As a cardiac electrophysiologist I am a specialist in arrhythmias such as atrial fibrillation, ectopics and slow heart beats which can cause palpitations, breathlessness and blackouts. I am interested in novel new technologies and digital tools with leadership positions both locally, within my trust and nationally in the exciting field of digital health.
I have performed over a thousand ablations and am a leader in one of the biggest and best arrhythmia groups in the world. I am the senior cardiac electrophysiologist at Harefield hospital so have experience of managing a wide range of cardiac disorders including challenging cases in the world famous heart transplant unit.
I am the chief clinical information officer for the Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals - responsible for implementing innovative digital tools to improve patient care, acting a bridge between clinicians and IT.
I am the first ever clinical director for digital health at the Royal College of Physicians (London) which allows me to influence digital health at a national and international level. I participate in various national and international committees looking at ways to improve digital health in areas such as remote care or outpatients.
I have recently completed a MSc in Digital health Leadership from Imperial College.
