I was born in South Africa where I completed my basic medical training at the University of Cape Town. I then relocated to the UK in 1997. My specialist orthopaedic training was completed here in the north east. During this time I completed an MSc in evidence based orthopaedics at the University of Teesside.
In order to gain further subspecialist training in upper limb surgery, I spent a year on fellowship at the prestigious unit in Wrightington, six months of which was by appointment of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. This included sports injuries, soft tissue reconstruction and joint replacement.
My NHS appointment is that of a consultant upper limb orthopaedic surgeon at Darlington Memorial Hospital where I also perform general trauma.
Some of the principal treatments carried out by Mr Brendan Fourie at Spire include:
Orthopaedics - elbow and shoulder
COVID-19 testing or antibody tests are not available as a standalone service at Spire Washington Hospital.
MB ChB / University of Cape Town / 1995

My main recreational activities include predominantly cycling and running with an occasional game of golf.
