I was appointed as a consultant general and colorectal surgeon in 2009 at the University Hospital of North Durham and I have a large colonoscopy, IBD and colorectal cancer practice.
My sub-specialist interest is in pelvic floor and laparoscopic surgery. Over 60% of all my major colorectal surgery is performed laparoscopically. I have a tertiary referral practice for the management of faecal incontinence (including neuromodulation), rectal prolapse and constipation.
I trained at St George's Hospital Medical school graduating in 1995. After house jobs I did basic surgical training in the West Midlands. From there I completed an MD in pelvic floor surgery at the University of Hull. My higher surgical training was undertaken in the North east before joining the University Hospital of North Durham in my current position as a consultant general and colorectal surgeon.
