I have been a Respiratory Consultant since 2016 and have in the past worked in Malaysia, Canada and The United Kingdom. I specialise in the full range of respiratory medicine, but have a particular interest in pleural diseases. I have been nominated for awards twice at Southend Hospital. I was one of the three finalists for the 'Annual Shine Awards' in 2021 in the 'Making A Difference' category due to my service during COVID-19, and was the first runner up for 'Hospital Heroes Patient's Choice Award' in 2017 for the 'Specialist Pleural Clinic' which I lead.
I am the Pleural Lead for Southend Hospital and skilled in undertaking ultrasound guided pleural aspiration, insertion of chest drains, insertion and removal of indwelling pleural catheters. I regularly perform bronchoscopy and endobronchial ultrasound guided fine needle aspiration (EBUS). I also work up COPD patients for lung volume reduction.
I generally manage about 20 to 30 respiratory patients per day.
I am skilled in respiratory procedures such as bronchoscopy, endobronchial ultrasound guided fine needle aspiration (EBUS) and undertake at least one list per week. I also undertake pleural procedures via ultrasound guidance, and have a weekly specialist pleural clinic. I regularly teach junior doctors and medical students these procedures as part of their training, and conduct yearly pleural diseases courses.
I was Joint Clinical Lead of the Respiratory Department in Southend Hospital from 2020 until 2022 and was instrumental in managing the COVID-19 pandemic response. In addition to maintaining essential urgent services such as lung cancer and pleural disease management. I am now the principal consultant support for the Community Respiratory Team.
I am actively involved in all levels of local and national recruitment from medical students and junior doctors, to higher specialty trainees (via the national training programme) and consultants in respiratory medicine.
I am a supervisor for medical students from Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry and Anglia Ruskin School of Medicine. I supervise all grades of junior doctors in training and I act as an appraiser for consultants and associate specialists from various specialties. I am also actively involved in teaching general practitioners and community nurses, providing regular interactive talks and other training sessions.

My main hobby is gardening and growing my own food such as potatoes, cucumber, tomatoes, apples and carrots. I love tending to my plants and the excitement of harvesting and eating them fresh from the garden is pure joy.
