Spire Wellesley awarded Venous Thromboembolism Exemplar status

16 December 2021

Spire Wellesley Hospital is extremely proud to announce that we have been awarded Venous Thromboembolism Exemplar (VTE) status.

VTE is a serious and preventable condition referring to blood clots in the veins, and being granted this award means that our team have demonstrated excellence in VTE prevention and care for our patients.

This prestigious status has been awarded to the Wellesley by Kings College Hospital, and is a mark of quality VTE prevention displaying quality, leadership and innovation in all areas of the assessment criteria.

Currently there are only 34 exemplar centres across the UK and we are proud to have achieved Kings College’s strict criteria, including our work taken to promote awareness, education, prevention and compliance - involving staff, patients and our Consultant colleagues.

We want to thank our team here at the Wellesley who have been working hard on this project in order to ensure the continued safety of our patients.
