- Hospital celebrates achieving prestigious award for 9th year
Spire Wellesley Hospital celebrates after receiving the prestigious Macmillan Quality Environment Mark (MQEM) once again. This award, recognising the highest standards in cancer care, champions cancer environments to go above and beyond to create welcoming environments for patients.
To achieve this accreditation, the Spire Wellesley Hospital cancer service was assessed in four main areas; the design and use of space, user’s journey, service experience and user’s voice. The assessment considered how the physical environment is designed, used and managed in a way that supports high quality care, and in turn, contributes to the enhanced wellbeing of people affected by cancer. They were also assessed on whether patient views were taken into account when developing services.
The MQEM expects that the environment be welcoming and accessible to all and respectful of people’s privacy and dignity. It also requires that an environment be supportive of the users’ comfort and wellbeing and gives choice and control to the people using the service, whilst listening to the voice of the user.
