- Spire Wellesley Hospital has been awarded prestigious ‘gold’ accolade for second year
Spire Wellesley Hospital was awarded a second successful CAP Gold Award following the latest unannounced assessment by the CAP Award Programme (Continuous Advancement Programme). This is an inspiring achievement for all those involved at the hospital.
The CAP Award programme is regarded as the highest measure of quality in ‘safe best practices’ and services. The aim of the assessment is to experience the service being received by the patients, staff, visitors and consultants. The standards of service, the team unity and supporting infrastructure at Spire Wellesley Hospital all impressed in registering a second consecutive year at the Gold CAP Award.

The CAP Inspector, said: “The Spire Wellesley Hospital in Southend-On-Sea has once again proven its commitment to its patients by achieving Gold Awards for its catering services from the Continuous Advancement Programme (CAP). Within its catering services, the hospital’s kitchens and ward catering staff really went the extra mile. Achieving Gold last year was a great result, but this year the team excelled itself, with high-quality food from the kitchen and service from its Ward catering team. It went beyond the nutritional and taste standards necessary to secure CAP’s Gold award.”
The Gold CAP Award is a welcome addition to the hospital’s excellent healthcare record and its achievements in the fields of patient care. The award has also demonstrated the importance that Spire Healthcare and the hospital places on the wellbeing of patients, staff, visitors and consultants.
Sue Holliday, Hospital Director at Spire Wellesley Hospital, said: “The Spire Wellesley Hospital is justifiably proud of its record in catering services. To achieve the Gold Award for the second year in a row is testament to the commitment of our team and our dedication to providing positive experiences and outcomes for our patients and visitors.”
