  • Spire Wellesley Hospital successfully completes audit process to receive Gold level certification

Spire Wellesley Hospital has been awarded as a Gold level National Joint Registry (NJR) Quality Data Provider for 2024 after successfully completing a national programme of local data audits. This award demonstrates the exemplary standards upheld by the hospital to ensure patient safety.

The NJR monitors the performance of hip, knee, ankle, elbow, and shoulder joint replacement procedures to help improve the clinical outcomes for the benefit of patients, but also to provide feedback to orthopaedic clinicians and industry manufacturers on surgical performance. The registry collects high quality orthopaedic data in order to provide evidence to support patient safety, standards in quality of care, and overall value in joint replacement surgery.

The NJR Quality Data Provider scheme has been devised to offer hospitals public recognition for achieving excellence in supporting the promotion of patient safety standards and is achieved by complying with the mandatory NJR data submission quality audit process. The audit compares the number of joint replacement procedures submitted to the registry to the number carrier out and recorded in the local hospital Patient Administration System. This ensures that the NJR are reporting on the most accurate data possible across all hospitals performing joint replacement procedures, including Spire Wellesley Hospital.
