Spire Wellesley Hospital raises £400 for Macmillan Cancer Support
17 July 2024
Colleagues at Spire Wellesley Hospital, Southend-on-Sea, organised a series of fundraising activities, including a ‘wear something snazzy’ day as part of Spire Healthcare’s 2024 Summer charity drive. < Their efforts raised £400 for Macmillan Cancer Support – a charity that provides support to people living with cancer.
During the multi-day event, colleagues across the business, including at Spire Healthcare’s 39 hospitals in England, Wales and Scotland, undertook a wide variety of activities including walking, cycling and running to raise money.
Spire Wellesley Hospital hosted the ‘Great Wellesley Bake Off’ which invited staff to fight for the title of ‘Star Baker’. Cakes were judged by the hospitals senior management team and later sold in a bake sale, with all monies raised going to this great cause.
Colleagues and consultants also took part in a ‘wear something snazzy’ day, where they were invited to wear something colourful for a small donation to Macmillan.
Charitable donations are being accepted and can be made to Macmillan Cancer Support by donating online through the hospital’s JustGiving page
Justin Ash, CEO of Spire Healthcare, said: "I’d like to thank Spire colleagues, and consultants for taking part in our 2024 Summer Charity Drive. It’s inspiring to see so many people giving of their time to raise funds for such a wide range of excellent causes. In addition to working every day to make a positive difference to people’s lives through outstanding personalised care, we at Spire Healthcare also believe in giving back to our local communities, and making a positive contribution to society wherever we can. I am therefore incredibly proud of everyone’s support and efforts to make this year’s fundraising period so successful.”
Spire Wellesley Hospital offers fast access to a wide range of treatments with specialist consultants.
Richard Coggings, Hospital Director at Spire Wellesley Hospital said: “I am really proud of all our colleagues who got involved in the summer charity drive in June. Along with providing outstanding personalised care for our patients, colleagues had some fun, enjoyed some cake and supported Macmillan cancer support, a charity close to our hearts.”
