MA, MD, FRCS, FRCS (Plas)
I was born in London and grew up in London and Henley-on-Thames. I studied medicine at Oxford University, where I undertook an intercalated degree for which I was awarded a Master of Arts degree. I completed my clinical studies for the MB BS degree at St Mary’s Hospital, in London and graduated in 1994 with a Distinction in Surgery and was awarded Honours in Surgery by the University of London.
Following my internship, I spent two years in full-time cancer research with Professor Sir Ara Darzi at Imperial College, investigating the mechanisms tumour spread following surgery. For my thesis I was awarded a doctoral degree (MD, Doctor of Medicine) by the University of London.
I undertook my surgical training in London teaching hospitals including the Royal London and St Bartholomew’s Hospital, Charing Cross and Hammersmith Hospitals. I completed my specialist training at the Royal Marsden Hospital. I was awarded the Gold Medal for my performance in the plastic surgery FRCS examination.
I undertook further specialist training in France, Brazil and London where I learned modern aesthetic surgery and advanced techniques for facial reanimation following facial paralysis.
I am a co-founder of Safer Cosmetic Surgery and Liberate Cosmetic Surgery and also on the Council of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS).
